Saturday and Sunday I had book signings (Barnes & Noble in Vestal Saturday and the Author Expo at CANO on Sunday), then on Sunday I added another 9,230 words to a ghostwriting project I’m finishing, and Monday I beat my best-ever single-day word count with 12,363 words (previously I was above 11k, but below 12). While those numbers may look impressive (and I’m happy with them, they are not something that should make anyone writing less feel bad—we all get our stories written in our own time (and I’ll have some good revision work to do before I send that book off to my editor). Remember, writers, we should only be competing with ourselves—and patting ourselves on the back every time we make any progress. As you know: “Easy reading is damn hard writing.”
If you love love, and you love reading, today is your day! RomanceBookLovers.com is hosting their book blast, during which more than 875 romance ebooks—in nearly every subgenre—will be available for free download across a variety of different platforms. The following images are only a brief glimpse at the selection—go to the website and select your favorite subgenre, then use the link by the cover to get your free e-reader copy. 13 TO LIFE will be available for free on 10/22/24—it’s one of only 5 days I’m allowed to make it free while it’s enrolled in Kindle Unlimited.
And there’s so much more!
Writers, if you’re nearly at the point when you might finally be publishing your book or story, you might want to take a peek at the covers listed in your particular subgenre to see if there are commonalities you might choose to echo or in some way gently reflect in your book cover’s design. Sometimes it helps readers recognize a trope or genre based on a book’s image (that saying of “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”?—it’s almost all we do ;) ), and it can make the difference between a reader picking up or passing by a book.
