March, April, and May have been pretty wild!
I attended some terrific events with some terrific artists and authors. One signing at Barnes & Noble in Vestal with Tara Conrad, Raven Storm, and Cat Johnson—that was so wonderful I’m now scheduled for Electric City Love Con in Scranton in August (this is going to be THE place to be in August with 150 romance authors in attendance—get tickets now)…
I’ll also be at Barnes & Noble in New Hartford on October 11th…
And will return to Barnes & Noble in Vestal on October 12th…
It’s going to be so much fun! (A HUGE thank you to Tara for providing our graphics! <3)
Oh! And Tara’s newest book just released—check it out!
I got news that the event I’ve wanted to be part of since I first heard of it a few years ago (I had nothing for it then so I waited…) accepted my first application to attend (I can’t say more on that until I’m given permission—but I am more excited for this event than nearly anything—I’ve known the founder for more than a decade and she *sparkles* with creativity).
I’ve also been asked by an amazing librarian to help with an event she’s organizing, so I’m reaching out to romance writers I love and who I think are a great fit to see who I can nab—more on that soon!
Hubby and I attended Romance in CNY as patrons (I was waitlisted because I had no idea it was even a thing until my application was waaay late…) so we looked around and chatted with fellow authors—it was really cool, especially for a first year event and I highly recommend you check it out next year, too.
I also attended the Otsego County Steampunk and Oddities Expo in Oneonta on a windy and cold day that reminded us that at a certain windspeed everything is aerodynamic (and tested our reflexes—lol)—but it was great fun and the organizer is a terrific and responsive listener. I’m looking forward to every event she puts on! She knows what she’s doing!
I opened my Fourthwall store (click the bottom at my store’s page if you want to open your own—there are perks!).
I birthed two pseudonyms (one whose debut will be this summer), had a new short story published in a charity anthology, and started pulling together the bits and pieces of all my worlds (yes, plural) into a massive “outline.” ←Note the quotation marks. My outlines may not be like your outlines, and that is totally okay. My brain is not like your brain.
That is also totally okay. :)
Hey, hey! Let’s take a look at this month’s cool Round-Robin Author Swap book: Nicole Howl’s Claiming My Mate: A forbidden-lovers romance (Wolf Hollow Pack series).
Lily has spent the last year as a captive of the Huntingtons, the Wolf Hollow royals. Jason is the future Alpha and King of Wolf Hollow. With every aspect of their lives attempting to keep them apart, can Lily and Jason get a happily ever after?
Go, take a look at Nicole’s books and remember to give your favorite authors some love and support. The economy’s not being kind to creatives and we all need to do what we can to encourage arts and reading.
Also!!! I’m going to offer a special paid subscription that will come out more frequently for people who want more of an emphasis on writing. Maybe you need a little help with something you’re working on, maybe you want some bite-sized articles on how a professional book coach, author, and ghostwriter (that’s me!) approaches certain things. Keep an eye out for that this summer.
Meanwhile, keep writing, keep reading, and keep supporting the people who do the same!
*What’s a Round-Robin Author Swap? It’s a fun thing authors do to support each other and get to know one another. We sign up with a group of fellow authors and share book covers, links, blurbs—whatever—and every month we share someone else’s book with our newsletter readers. We rotate through a whole calendar worth of authors (often in our genre or a similar one), so you’ll see a bunch of (probably) new-to-you authors. I hope you at least check out their link and take a peek at their book. :)
